Mind you, I've seen a couple of episodes (not the whole thing) but I never did touch the manga.
So I gotta say, this is an extremely interesting manga, if only for the fact that there's a subtle but severe mood whiplash going on. What attracted me to it in the first place was the complete crack (and trust me, it IS funny) but as the manga goes on, things start getting pretty depressing. I mean, the humour and gags are still there and they're still amusing, but there's an underlying insanity to it. And not the good type of sanity.
